The materials for this project will be utilized to create a stimulating visual environment that reflects K-3rd grade Social Studies standards and brings to life traditional patriotic themes from 4th-8th grade Social Studies standards in U.S. History and Civics. The flag decorations will be utilized in both the Veterans Wall decor (Honoring over 120 veteran family members of staff and students) but in the Veterans Variety Show.
The Veterans Variety Show and Veterans Wall brings Social Studies standards to life by connecting the students to the community in a collaborative outreach that encourages civic engagement. Leaders from the community will be able to see the inspirational influence the Veteran population has on the students of our school. Well over 65% of our student population has a direct family member that is serving or has served our country. It is imperative for students to be able to relate and rely on one another as a strong support network that is fully endorsed by the schools and community to help them reach their full potential.
The Frito Lay Variety Packs, Veggie Snacks and Nestle Pure Life Waters will go to help the Spaghetti Dinner portion of the Veteran Variety Show. The Flags and bunting will be part of the shows decor and Color Guard performances honoring the Veterans of our school and community.
