As a first year teacher, I started the year with a bare classroom. I have received materials from friends, family, and the amazing team at my school, but there are still a few things that could make my classroom a successful learning environment for all of my students.
Second graders are not known for their calm demeanor - and I have my fair share of wiggly friends! The inflated stability disks and chair bands will help my particularly rambunctious students stay active and focused during direct instruction. The other fidget items will be used in our "cool down zone" where students go to take a break. The rug will give my students another space to go when they are choosing a learning environment that best suits them.
The speaker will help me project our digital math curriculum, which students currently have a difficult time hearing from just my laptop speakers. The lights will be used for classroom management so all students know what they should be doing at any given time. These few items may seem small, but I know they will have a profound impact on our classroom environment!
