Our campus houses our school district's autism program. We have students from kindergarten through the 8th grade. Our students benefit from frequent sensory breaks, and alternative seating options that help them to stay focused. The items requested in this project will not only serve my students, but our entire autism program.
Our students' overall well-being is our priority. Providing options that will allow a student to be more successful in the classroom is important to us. We need the help of our community and others with a passion for education and helping those with autism spectrum disorder.
The alternative seating options are crucial for our students that need to bounce, rock, or move throughout the day. The sensory fidgets are provided as incentives for work completion and also provided to students that require fine motor input throughout the day. The noise reduction headphones provide fashionable alternatives to the standard headphones. This allows our students to be around their general education peers without feeling self-conscious.
