Some of the concepts in chemistry are abstract, causing students to struggle at times. One strategy to help these struggling students is using models. I would like to use The Periodic Puzzle, the Lewis Structure Sets and Atomic Model Sets to help these struggling students to better visualize the concepts and synthesize their learning.
Models allow students to visualize abstract ideas and construct their own understanding.
The Periodic Puzzle is a concrete way to show trends and to allow students to form their own connections about the functionality of the Periodic Table. The Lewis Structure Set and Atomic Model sets will aid the understanding of the formation of chemical bonds and allow my students collaborate with peers to visualize the shape of atoms and molecules as they manipulate the models.
