Take a minute to think about your best childhood memories. Mine are all about playing outside. The memories might be with family or friends. None of my best childhood memories involve sitting in front of a screen. In today’s world children are playing less and less outside. Children spend as much as 50 hours a week in front of a screen. By actively playing outside in nature children’s brains will be better prepared to learn. When children have unstructured outdoor play time they gain important cognitive and social skills. Children observe and create. Both large motor and fine motor skills improve. And they have fun.
