A Place of their Own!
My students need a peaceful and comfortable space to unwind, read, and do their work. A classroom designed to give the students I teach a place to focus and find the joy in reading would be amazing. My students deserve to be in an environment that shows them that they are valued.
The materials would be to facilitate a comfortable environment to focus and do their work. I hope to offer relaxing chairs, an organized environment and a peaceful reading space required to put them at ease from stressful home situations and be able to concentrate on what they need to do at school. All of my students require a safe, quiet place they can feel good in. The bean bag chairs will help me make my room feel comfortable and put the students at ease as if it is a sanctuary. This will foster a love of reading. The book cases give me a place to organize my books so the room won't feel crowded and in disarray. The less clutter around you makes you feel more organized in your thoughts and you can concentrate on important tasks. All of these things are necessary for the students to feel like they are important and that it is truly "their" space.
