I strive to create positive, exciting and creative reading activities to engage readers. With "The Cricut Joy" students will use the machine to design letters needed for a vocabulary word/word list. This will increase their vocabulary and phonics skills. Presently they only engage with letters and words with pencil and paper. Creating their own words will make them more interested in reading and using words. This will also give them an interactive way to connect with letters, sounds and words. Presently, they write their word list on paper and are not engaged in the writing process. Adding a creative layer to the words will cement those words into their memory banks.
