We spend a lot of time reading grade level passages, non-fiction, and learning/applying the reading standards. No matter how engaging or fun a teacher makes one of these stories, not every student is going to be interested. Students have varying tastes in genres of books. Since the beginning of the year, I have overheard many of my students mention some of their favorite series of books they enjoy reading. I would love to provide a few of these series in our classroom library for students to have access to during their free reading time. Having new books in the classroom library gets kids excited to read! While I still want to help my students become successful with reading comprehension, I also want to maintain their love for reading by giving them something that strikes their attention and interest!
