My art students include grades 9-12 and are part of an intensive college prep public charter school that is still replacing lost resources due to Katrina. One of our main strengths is our cultural diversity. Nearly 60% of our student body is comprised of minority population groups.
My classes include a variety of art backgrounds. For some, this is their first experience ever in an art classroom and for others, this is an yet another continuation of their artistic pursuits. My students are very bright and enthusiastic about working in a darkroom - exploring the many creative outlets that this medium offers. For nearly all my students, this is the first opportunity they have had to shoot, develop, and print their own photographs.
Some of my classes are also classified as "gifted in the arts" and this will be my second and third years working with the same group. These students are ready to explore more advanced projects as well as assist the beginner students.
