All students want to play with their peers, communicate with those around them and learn the skills that others are learning. However, for many of our students who have a disability, those 3 skills do not come easily for them. With an IPad, my students will have access to apps that will give them opportunities to communicate with others, share their thoughts and ideas, and to demonstrate their knowledge at their skill level.
We will use the IPad during whole group, small group and individual activities to allow my non-verbal students to participate in songs, word play and story time on the same level as their typical peers.
We will also use the IPad during play time to allow students to make choices of where they want to go and what they want to play with.
Lastly, we will use the IPad as a reward for my students when they complete their work using the First/Then model.
