This is the first year they have had the same PE teacher for ALL the grades. I do a lot with crossing the different content areas, specifically math and language arts. These items will help with games I have created to play in the gym that reinforce math facts and literacy.
This equipment will help the students make the connection between classes and help with retention and performance on quizzes and tests. I use 6 sided dice for specific games that include fitness. The 12 sided dice will help with my 4th grade and up students to help with multiplication as will the dominos. I plan to use the clear folders to insert math problems where they can use a dry erase marker. This will allow me to save on copying paper and reuse throughout the day. The beanbags will help with a literacy game where we do letter identification and building words with my older students. All students learn differently and exposing them to different styles of learning increases their chances of success. By creating games in P.E. that touch on information from the classroom, my hope is that students will not only learn but exercise and fun while doing so.
