As a rural community without easy access to universities and higher education, my students would benefit tremendously by a college going culture on our campus. We have succeeded in many ways by discussing college at every grade level, providing lessons to prepare for the future, and completing activities that will help students transition into high school believing they can graduate and attend a prestigious university.
We want our students to feel a sense of pride when they talk about college as many of them will be the first in their family to attend. Providing them with college shirts can help them display this pride to our community and increase the college going culture our school has tried to create.
