By providing flexible seating choices, my students are given the opportunity to learn in an environment that meets their individual needs. Currently during independent work times, students have the option to choose space in the classroom that works for them.
There are a variety of working areas in our classroom such as different tables, sitting in a scoop seat, sitting on the carpet with a clipboard, or sitting on a stool. Making sure students have different options for seating is an essential component to motivation and engagement in the classroom. As choices for flexible seating, the wobble chairs and balance balls will help my students maintain focus while working independently and getting those wiggles out.
