This year has brought unique challenges as some students are attending school remotely, in addition to changing procedures for those attending in-person classes to eliminate students sharing materials. These items will help me assist my students both online and in-person. An iPad will allow students attending in-person classes to benefit from using interactive, hand-on materials that can be easily wiped off between students to maintain hygiene procedures. Students learning remotely will benefit from the Osmo camera (purchased independently) which will allow me to use manipulatives and model language during lessons, to increase student engagement, as well as assist parents in learning how to use their child’s communication system. Lastly, an iPad will also allow me to model language using the same communication app as each student, which will help promote student’s independence in navigating their communication device. This will help them not only reach their speech and/or language goals, but also teach them how to use their device to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas with others.
