One of the newest and latest trends is 3D printing. Students become very interested when they hear mention of something involving 3D printing. Students had an opportunity to see an object being 3D printed at our local STEM Academy. They swarmed to it like moths to a flame. I want to bring that same excitement to my classroom. I know I have some future engineers sitting in my classroom. I want to be able to help them get a taste for the future of the designing and building process.
I also would like to have a 3D printer in the room to help students innovate solutions to problems in our community. I have submitted an application with the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow program. My idea is for students to design bat and bird houses to place along our local walking trail. The housing will bring in more bats and birds to the area, which well help to keep pest insect populations down.
