My school is located in a predominately low social economic area. The majority of my students are English Language Learners and also are very limited in their primary language, Spanish.
The economic situation limits their experiences. Even though our school is less than ten miles from the nearest beach and less than thirty miles from the mountains, 80 percent of my students have never experience walking barefoot in sand or feeling or seen snow.
