Eighth graders are expected to know all of the basic operations and apply them to the new skills they are learning. At this level, a calculator can be super helpful as students work through these challenging problems. Having a calculator for each student in class will help them to learn the new skills efficiently! In this digital age, students learn best through multimedia presentations. A projector would allow me to share content in engaging ways that help students to better process and remember what they are learning! There are many websites that have digital manipulatives that help students to understand more abstract concepts in a more concrete way.
Calculators and a projector would be a great addition to my classes and would give my students what they need to be successful in eighth grade math.
