My students are so creative and hopeful desperate their extreme low-income bracket they reside in. They are truly in need of a seed of hope in their lives. Nothing is taken for granted in their classroom . I have a sofa chair covered with squish mellows adjacent to a rack of magazines and books along with architecture models; proudly displayed on shelves from alumni in one corner. The opposite side has supplies that I try to provide for them to have hands on activities. There is a large sense of trust. I tell them you have my complete trust and in return nothing ever is stolen. From day one they know my room is a haven. A sanctuary from discrimination, bullying, and the heaviness of pressure. I teach them with passion so they become passionate of their own work. I do my best to show them possibilities and still let them express themselves.
