Character education and communication skills lead to lifelong academic achievement. My project is aimed to encourage conversations and teamwork between students in my classroom while engaging in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics) activities. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. I chose resources such as LEGO, a gear set, and a Snap Circuits kit that my students will be able to choose from during our Friday free choice time when students are building friendships with classmates while engaging in educational activities to support their learning. The variety of activities provided by this project will allow for collaboration, listening to others, working out conflicts, perseverance, and community building, and they are all STEAM based resources.
