By teaching behavior expectations and rewarding students when they display them, it is a more positive approach then waiting for negative behavior to happen than responding. Every student has a chance to earn five Cardinal Cash tickets a day for displaying acts of being safe, caring, responsible, and respectful. Students then cash in these tickets every two weeks at our PBIS store for 25 ticket and 50 ticket prizes. The Twizzlers and Sour Patch Kids will serve as prizes for 25 tickets. The larger prizes, Skittles, Starburst, Hershey Candy bars, and Grandma's Cookies will be used for 50 ticket prizes.
The purpose of this is to motivate the students into doing the right thing and recognize students for meeting specific behavior expectations. In order to motivate them, we need an assortment of prizes that students are interested in and willing to work towards achieving.
