Hands-on Learning is a very effective way to engage students in exposure to academic learning. The project will involve viewing a DVD about earthworm anatomy and then they will partner up to dissect the earthworm, create notebooks and presentations to their classmates with their completed work. By utilizing this project, my students will be well on their way to help them understand the process of doing lab work on a higher level which help them when they begin the secondary school journey and where they will have numerous lab requirements. It can open up a new found excitement for science.
Specifically,we need the DVD for front-loading information prior to the lab work, dissecting kits and the earthworms as well as the safety equipment(goggles, aprons, gloves) to make sure the students protect themselves. Additonal supplies needed include poster boards, colored pencils and notebooks to document and present their work.
