This is a production class for at risk, low income, and special need children. I have been acquiring equipment for shooting, editing, lighting and such from friends, outdated equipment from other schools, asking groups to partner with our mission.
This is a brand new program and there is almost no funding available at this point for equipment. I want to be able to show film clips, television clips, videos, and the projects they create in a high quality way. It is hard to analyze lighting, sound design, and good editing when the project you have access to is old, dim, and needs 2 adapters to connect to a laptop. I'm currently using a speaker system I had at home and it sounds great in an empty classroom. Once my classroom fills up with students it's almost like the speaker is on mute. I have to turn off the air conditioning and the students lean in to hear.
This is not indicative of the program I want to run. I want them to be able to see and hear the artistry that is on the screen before them.
