My students love to learn with hands-on activities. Having tools that can be easily sanitized and cleaned has been a real challenge. Students will be able to work in small groups to build words word families, and word chains using the magnetic letters and tiles. Students will be able to identify the sounds of letters and blend those sounds into words. The classroom white boards will be used in whole class and small group instruction for students to write words independently using dry erase markers. Many of my students are struggling readers. Covid-19 has created large gaps in phonemic awareness for these students. Understanding how to manipulate and change consonants and vowels in words will help my students to be able to read and write more words than they once could.
