These sturdy chair pockets will be perfect for storing and protecting the books my students love so much to read. I've worked hard to build a print-rich classroom with a library of engaging literature that the children are excited about. I have found that when my students can keep an assortment of stories close by to pick up whenever they have a spare minute, so much more time is spent actually reading. Precious time isn't lost each day searching for titles on our classroom shelves. Studies show that every minute of time spent in text is vital for young children to build reading skills like fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. They will have a better chance to grow into stronger readers. In addition to housing their stories in such an easily accessible place, these chair pockets are great space savers, and even more importantly, they will help protect the books my students and I care about so much! Sometimes a child's desk can be like a black hole, and these durable nylon pockets can keep favorite titles from disappearing into oblivion. In addition, these new books we are hoping for, will replace some favorites that have gone on to the great beyond. There are also some new titles that will be perfect for read aloud times at the rug and useful for character, cultural, and language arts lessons. It will save me time from traveling to my county library so often in hopes of finding specific titles I've planned around. Finally, my students are crazy about listening to stories and settling in with a good book on their own. They light up whenever a new title arrives. My Superstar Second Graders would so appreciate these additions to our classroom library, and I know their teacher would too!
