I started a weekly recess chess club for the fourth/fifth graders at my elementary school. The enthusiasm has been overwhelming and I hate to discourage students when I have to turn them away because we only have five chessboards. Students report to me that they have watched their friends play chess and they want to learn, too.
I am hoping that every child who wants to learn to play chess and/or has a passion for the game of chess, will have the opportunity to join our weekly chess club.
Not all students want to play handball or basketball or soccer or tag at recess. Brain exercise is equally as important as bodily exercise! Thank you for supporting our project.
