What up! My name is Ms.Rhodes and I am a first year teacher. I am teaching at a Title 1 school and I love it! But what they don't prepare you for after school is what to do when you walk into an empty classroom. Reading with the lights off is bad for your eyes, that is what my grandmother always told me. Well, I have a solution for that!
Flashlight Friday's will be a day where my students get to read in the dark. They will be able to get the best of both worlds. Reading their favorite book and relaxing. I have selected books such as Henry and Mudge, Dairy of a Wimpy Kid and The Wonderful Things You Will Do. Also, flashlights for each student to have their own. We need books because there is none in our classroom and flashlights to make it a little more exciting.
In the neighborhood that I work in, these babies don't get the luxury of having books to read at home. They are living in public housing and live in a single parent home. It is my responsibility to make sure that they are giving every opportunity.
