More than a third of my students come from low income families. The use of the iPads, tablets, and magnetic letters will be a key component in Reading and Writing Workshop. The magnetic letters will be used for word work stations where students will increase their vocabulary and strengthen their spelling skills. The iPads and tablets will be used to read online books and utilize apps such as VoiceThread where students will storytell and record their voices in small groups by adding key components in writing a story (eg. dialogue and setting).
These materials will provide better engagement and access for students with Autism to help build reading fluency, reading comprehension, and providing students with the opportunity to interact with their peers in small groups through interactive writing.
