Our current classroom rug has been very well loved for several years. It is old, falling apart, and has permanent wrinkles that we trip over on almost a daily basis. It has been a good rug to us for many years, but I believe that it is time to retire it for a new rug.
A new classroom rug would not only be safer, but would help us focus on our learning. It is difficult to stay on task when the rug we sit on is frayed. It is very temping to want to pull on the strings and pull apart the small pieces of fabric. Not only does this create a mess, but causes us to take our focus off of the learning happening in the classroom. The rug I have chosen has a designated "area" for each student which will allow them to visually understand how to stay in their own space. It also has the alphabet going around the border of the rug which I currently have with our rug now. We use the border daily when sitting in a rectangle shape (we call it the "beach") and we also use it to play alphabet games. I love that this rug is simple yet very practical. It will help to serve our classroom in many ways!
