When most people think of math, they think numbers, fractions, symbols, etc. But what most fail to realize is how diverse and creative math can truly be. I would like my students to do more than just add, and subtract; I want them to create. I want them to work in their groups and design large posters of functions where they can decorate their graphs with colors, write out each step and teach others along the way. Math is much more than doing the same problem over and over again. It's finding new approaches, discovering new techniques and being creative with our thinking process. I want students to do more than just sit and calculate, I want them to create! By supplying my students with crayons, color pencils, and markers, students will be able to create these awesome posters on their card stock which we could laminate to decorate the classroom with their work. In addition, by giving students access to Expo markers, they can write their work on their own personal whiteboards in different colors which will help them stay focused and focus on their work when reviewing problems on the board.
