I discovered that students love writing projects using their own photographs! For example, my third graders collaborated to draw and color endangered animals in their own habitats. They went on a "trip" to photograph the animals and gather notes for their reports. Being able to use their own cameras will only add to the process. The students used my camera to photograph a field trip and then write about the experience the follow day. WOW, writing with photography has made writing fun and very personable for each of my students! I would like to continue this practice by allowing the students to be in charge of their own camera use.
