My guitar students love to learn and play the guitar but with the lack of supplies for class it makes it very difficult to get them to learn and focus on the assignment at hand. We have about forty guitars available for use but more than 60% of them are missing strings. We have recently started working with playing chords in class, and for most of them you need all the strings.
The class can share the few working instruments but that only goes so far. Especially with their being 30+ students in each class and 50 min class periods everyday. It doesn't leave much time for students to get a full understanding and master certain techniques and exercises on the guitar. With all the down time in between practicing students tend to get off task and unfocused, leaving them behind and not wanting to do any work. That puts the pressure on me because I understand what is going on but there is not much I can do to help with the situation.
I hope that someone can help with the dilemma we are currently faced with, and I know the students would love if we could acquire the supplies we need to fully function in class daily.
