The materials and supplies I am requesting already have a specific location they will be used in my classroom. I can visualize how I will use each item and the specific purpose it will serve for all my students. Although each child will not be receiving an individual item, all students in the classroom will benefit from a dedicated calm down space. These items will allow me to continue to teach students the self-assist tools and strategies they need to maintain awareness of their bodies and emotions throughout the day. My hope is I will also be able to use these tools to teach students to ask for what they need....movement, a hug, a break, etc, before their emotions or sensory under/over stimulation overloads on them.
