My students don’t all come from homes where technology is available to them. They are expected to make a certain amount of growth in these programs by the end of the year to meet grade level expectations. This requires a certain amount of time being spent on these computer program per week. When they can’t get on at home, it’s up to me to get them on at school. We have two amazing computer-based programs at my school. The children start at their level (some are below grade level and some are above grade level.) They make tremendous growth throughout the year. I have seen non-readers become readers, and many children surpass math goals in one year. These programs let the proficient students advance to the next level as well! Due to budget cuts we no longer have a computer class at our school, so it is imperative we have more technology in the classrooms!
