The classroom that I am working in currently does not have any carpeting for students to sit on or use for centers. During center times for ELA and Math they are mainly at their seats or desks. I want to give them the opportunity to access the library center and stretch out when reading during independent reading time. By having comfortable pillows and seating they can sit with their peers and work on a project or lay down on the floor to read. Some of our students need differentiated instruction and opportunities to move throughout the day. By having a soft and cozy reading corner that is inviting they can really become engrossed in a good book.
