By providing students with good quality materials, students will feel respected, and that their learning needs are met. It is difficult for some families to come up with shoe boxes if they don't regularly buy shoes, which is likely the case at our Title I school.
Having the supplies available will level the playing field for all students. Students will have the opportunity to work with different paper materials to create the artifacts that show the tribe's dwelling, clothing, food, and tools.
I have seen how having better quality materials energizes the students to be their most creative, cutting, drawing and imagining!
