Our school is starting to incorporate social-emotional learning throughout the school day and I would like to make learning these skills more concrete by implementing Zones of Regulation curriculum in my classroom. Students will learn how to manage their emotions by recognizing their feelings, identifying their current zone, and using various strategies to regain control so that they can get back to the “Green Zone” ready to learn.
I would like to implement Zones of Regulation curriculum in my classroom and create a Cozy Corner that will provide my students with time, space and sensory tools necessary to de-escalate from any given situation in the classroom or school. I want to encourage students to explore their emotions and manage their feelings in a safe space.
The books, materials, and sensory tools will be used to teach Zones of Regulation curriculum in my classroom and to create our first ever Cozy Corner. These tools align with the strategies my students will be learning as a part of this social-emotional curriculum. They will help my students learn to identify their needs and self-advocate so that they can independently regulate their emotions and behavior in their pursuit for a successful life.
