My project is an after school mentoring program called Our G.A.M.E. It uses basic games to teach what I call 鈥淏.A.S.E. Life Management Tools鈥 - Balance, Adaptability, Strength and Endurance. These tools will better equip participants to make choices according to purpose and not circumstances.
Our G.A.M.E. or Our Goal to Accomplish More Every day students will have fun while improving our focus and preparing for a successful future. The program consist of 10 鈥 12 participants who meet twice weekly for four - six weeks. The sessions are 90 minutes long. During our session we will provide a snack this is why I'm requesting the Frito lay chips and homework help. We will also provide T-shirts for participants to be worn all day on days of our sessions. We will exercise, participate in circle time and practice the chosen game every session. Exercises will be the equivalent of a P.E. class and circle time will consist of positive reinforcement chants, songs, poems and meditation.
The participants will learn and play the chosen game which is Kickball that will promote fitness and teach our 鈥淏.A.S.E. Life Management Tools鈥 - Balance, Adaptability, Strength and Endurance. We chose kick ball that is why we need the ball and the cones. Kickball was chosen because each base will represent one of our life management skills we will be learning about throughout the program. These are the same tools needed to win the game and in life.
The program will end with the 鈥淏ig Game鈥 Our Gamers vs Our Community Supporters. This is important because a lot of our students success is tied to our community and we need them to know this. We also need the scrimmage vest because it gives our students a sense of unity when we play the game.
