Multi sensory teaching techniques and materials stimulate the brain in a variety of ways so sensory systems become more developed and higher functioning. It improves essential functions of the brain such as listening skills, movement, vision, tactile recognition, and conceptualization. While there are a variety of apps on the iPad and other technology that support the development of speech and language skills which I also incorporate in therapy sessions, the Speechpage Binders are hands-on, tangible speech and language learning materials that are fun, engaging, realistic, and functional. They are laminated and will withstand repeated use. Students benefit from repetition and repeated practice of the basic skills outlined in these materials as they learn to generalize these concepts into their academic work and conversational/communication skills.
