When I sit down with a good book, I find my favorite chair and a couple of pillows and settle in for some reading. I want to give that experience to the students in my classroom.
Creating a reading area where students can get comfortable and relax with a book will help students engage with reading. Students will be able to immerse themselves in reading, in a way that a traditional student desk doesn’t allow. It may even get a more reluctant reader to pick up a book. Creating this space in the classroom will be one more step in prioritizing free reading and the joy it brings.
