According to the CDC "....physical activity can have a high impact on cognitive skills and attitudes and academic behavior". There has been a myriad of other studies that support the fact that physical activity in many cases improves a student's academic achievement. Despite this fact, our children are in school for over six hours a day. During that time they get a short 15 minute recess, 15 minute recess after lunch and a 20 minute P.E. session. The rest of the day the students are expected to sit at their desks, stay on task and master concepts that they are taught.
These materials would provide my students with the crucial movement they need throughout their entire class time. This would benefit all of my students mentally, physically, and academically! It would give them an outlet for pent up energy and improve attention and engagement during academically rigorous subjects. This would help all of my students, but especially those with special needs.
