Every year we learn about the effects of waste on our environment and ways we can help conserve our natural resources. The kids read about it, watch videos, and even create something using recycled materials. They enjoy sharing how their creation is helping Earth but I know the concepts are still very abstract for them.
Hands-on activities helps to make the concept of renewable energy real. By building a mini solar car, they will see it stop and go depending on the amount of exposure to sunlight. They will also have a chance to create nature art using special UV paper and the heat from the sun. I'm hoping they will understand how heat from the sun can provide energy for many things.
Talking about it, finding examples in the real world and even making the recycled products are fun but adding on these types of activities will leave a lasting impression for sure!
