This project will allow the students to contribute to their community while gaining valuable skills such as measuring, cutting, and tying the strips to the snuffle mats. These skills contains many of the occupational therapy skills that the students need to practice. The students also learn about service dogs and their role in supporting people in many different ways, also honing their fine motor and vocational skills while engaging in a therapeutic rewarding activity. Moreover, the students will be involved in creating, packaging and sending the mats to the animal humane society as well as a local animal rescue center in the Bronx.
