Our students are innovative thinkers with an insatiable hunger for learning. With the help of Chromebooks and a document camera, we will be able to further ignite this passion. These materials will enhance our classroom STEAM and project based learning projects.
The Chromebooks will allow students to code robots and use technology such as the Sphero. The students need to be able to research and as they progress with their computer skills will be able to do so independently. Using the Chromebooks for STEAM activities will also develop design skills and further their mathematical thinking. The Chromebooks will allow students to work on projects at their own skill level. Currently, the students in my class only have daily access to one iPad in the classroom and computer class once a week for 25 minutes. It is difficult to form the required skills needed for proper STEAM activities with the lack of classroom technology.
A document camera is also a vital piece of equipment needed. Some students have a difficult time following directions without a visual. They need to see what we are discussing and just holding it up often creates confusion. This confusion leads to frustration and often the feeling of giving up. I want to eliminate this and strive for perseverance.
