Providing my students with 6 wobble stools, 6 balance balls, 6 wiggle cushions, and the read to sound phones will make our learning environment a better place to be. They will be able to get their wiggles out throughout the day WHILE still learning. Being at school for 6+ hours can be difficult for any child, nevertheless a 5 or 6 year old, even with all the brain breaks we take throughout the day.
Giving my students these flexible seating options will allow them to wiggle as much as they need to, whenever they need to, without disrupting instruction. My kiddos can have the option to take charge of their learning. Students will now have a choice in where they sit. Students who are comfortable in their learning environment have a better chance of staying focused, staying calm, and being productive.
All of these flexible seating options will get the different types of learners in my classroom out of regular school chairs, and into more age appropriate seating during our reading groups.
