My students are reading 5+ years below grade-level. As a self-contained teacher in Baltimore, my students rely on text being read aloud to them in order to comprehend the plot of a story.
In my next unit, I am planning on having students choose from an array of graphic novels. My students will have the power to choose which book appeals to their interests in hopes of sparking a love for reading deep within them.
In order to make this possible, students will listen to the audio book version and follow along in the text. Each student already has access to a Chromebook but unfortunately, the classroom set of headphones is in disarray.
By donating to this project you will grant my students access to texts that will enrich their lives and appeal to their interests.
