My Pre-K classes are a play based program that prepares students for kindergarten in a developmentally appropriate way. Play is an important part of children's learning and development. It also promotes emotion regulation, creativity, critical thinking that is important for a child's resiliency and mental health in the future. All my students this year are in the general educational setting. I have two classes, AM and PM with 40 gen.ed students and about 95% are English Language Learners. My school is a free-reduced lunch with low income families. Students in these areas not only suffer from lack of resources at home, but our schools must also scrape to the minimum. The socioeconomic status of children and their families has a profound effect on the children's education.
