All of the students in our classroom do have individualized education plans. Over half of the students have autism. They are beginning to talk and are learning pre- k concepts such as letter and number recognition and counting. We teach these concepts through everyday activities. We are focused on experiential learning and using a multi-modal approach to instruction. The children come to school each day with smiles on their faces. The parents in my classroom support our work to the in their homes. Our focus is to assist all students in reaching their fullest potential. We strive to give our students the same opportunities as their general education and more affluent peers. The students participate in sensory and culinary activities as well as art projects.
