Think about your own thoughts and feelings in light of the Coronavirus pandemic. Now imagine you are a six-year old child who left school thinking they would return to see their friends and teacher after Spring Break. We left without saying goodbye, without talking about what was happening, without reassuring our students that it's okay to feel what you feel.
They love to write and draw, and now more than ever, they need a healthy way to express how they are feeling during the Covid-19 crisis. I want to provide students a spiral-bound journal, stickers, markers, and crayons so they can journal their way through this unsettling time. I want their journal keeping to spark conversations during our live lessons, and with their families. I want every child to have the materials to creatively express their thoughts and feelings.
Please help me give them the tools necessary to aid in processing their emotions.
