This project will allow us to have a sensory room that is suitable for all the students. They will have access to a variety of sensory items that will help them control their active bodies and minds. These sensory items will be available to all kids throughout the day.
Our students are highly active and need a safe space for them to get their sensory needs. It will allow them to come back into the classroom ready to learn and work. Once their sensory needs are met, they will have a clear brain to start working. The sensory room is a huge part of their sensory "diet" and will be extremely beneficial. Some of the things that we will be included in the sensory room is an inflatable peapod, teepee tent, sensory lap blankets, trampolines, etc. These items will allow the children to self regulate their bodies in order for them to focus on work. The students will get 5-10 minutes in the sensory room before they start their instructional day. This will also be used a safe place for them to be if they have behaviors.
