The equipment purchased for the classroom will help students exercise while de-stressing about what may be bothering them in their daily lives. Many students come to school with unwanted and unneeded burdens that weigh them down throughout the school day. These students need an outlet to help them not worry about the "outside stuff", and to focus on school and all that it has to offer! Research has proven that exercise helps a body rid itself of stress. I currently have one exercise bike that is ridden every day, and has helped diminish negative behaviors. Students have come into class, and put themselves on the bike (while angry or stressed about a current situation) and instantly were able to focus, and engage themselves in the lesson that was taking place in class. Last year, some of these same students would have been sent home for these same behaviors. Another plus is that students riding on the bike do not distract the other students in class! The positive outcome of having this one bike is the students want more equipment!
